What is Domestic Carrier Liability?
Domestic carrier's liability insurance covers the legal liability of road hauliers carrying goods within Türkiye for loss of or damage to the goods carried. It is mandatory for licensed carriers under Turkish road transport legislation.
Under the carriage provisions of the Turkish Commercial Code, the carrier is liable for loss and damage occurring from the moment it takes over the goods until delivery. Although this liability is capped by statutory limits, a major loss can still be a serious financial burden for a haulier.
The policy is arranged according to the number of vehicles, the type of goods and the mode of carriage. Combined with a CMR policy, both domestic and international carriage can be managed under one umbrella.

Frequently asked questions
Is domestic carrier's liability insurance mandatory?
Carriers holding a transport licence under Turkish road transport legislation are required to have it. Many cargo owners also require this policy from the hauliers they work with.
Does this policy cover the full value of the goods?
No. Compensation is limited to the carrier's legal liability and the policy limits. Cargo owners are advised to take out cargo insurance for full protection.
Does my casco cover the goods I carry?
Casco only covers the vehicle; carried goods are not included. You need carrier's liability insurance for your liability for the goods.
Scope of cover and limits are determined by the general and special conditions of the issuing insurer.
